The Bras d’Or Lakes Inn has created their own traditional house party in the spirit of the Ceilidh. From early July until mid August on Wednesday and Thursday nights, people gather to enjoy live music and dance performances by a variety of local and visiting artists of all ages. Admission is charged and Wednesday is for those 19 years of age or older. Thursday nights are open to all ages.
Noted for its gourmet meals, The Normaway Inn offers breakfast and dinner in its bright and open dining room. While enjoying garden views, diners feast on full breakfasts where menu items like French toast, pancakes and Eggs Hughie D are available. Dinner service is offered nightly from June 20th to October 18th or by prior arrangement throughout the year and a daily changing menu is offered.
This 17th century style theatre was commissioned in the 1990's for a Disney film, and built to resemble London's Globe Theatre, which was built in 1599. Since opening to the public, this theatre has entertained thousands with high-caliber, exciting theatre and musical performances.
A relaxing environment with soft music, couches, tables and chairs carefully arranged around a cozy, dominant fireplace. The bar is tastefully decorated with paintings illustrating Acadian history and exudes charm and a European ambiance.
Dockside Ceilidh's provides daily entertainment for tourists and residents waiting for Newfoundland ferry from North Sydney. This venue features pipers, fiddlers, highland dancers, stepdancers, vocal groups, talent shows, and the highland dance competition.
The building is actually located on the former site of the Hawkesbury Creamery. This hall was originally a building supply warehouse for many years then a wholesale warehouse before being acquired by the SAWDC. Extensive renovations were completed in 1995 and it has since become one of the cornerstones of the Port Hawkesbury waterfront improvement efforts begun in 1992.
