Built in 1955, this structure crosses the Strait of Canso and connects mainland Nova Scotia to Cape Breton Island. Before the Causeway was built, the only method of transport between the mainland and the Island was via ferry, made difficult due to tumultuous winds and waters.

St. Peter's Canal links the Atlantic Ocean to the vast Bras d'Or lakes. The canal is an ideal spot from which to watch small craft pass through the lock system of this 140-year old canal. There are several outdoor exhibits and a museum, as well as picnic facilities.

Completed in 1919 and replaced in 1970, this causeway/bridge combination replaced an original ferry crossing linking Cape Breton Island with the island cluster of Isle Madame.
